Instructions

Our goal is to match primary and secondary schools computer lab needs with donors willing to fund grants.

Provide accurate school information

Each school is required to review this information and provide additional details about the school, its curriculum, and its facilities. A grant cannot be processed until this review and all required information have been completed.

Step 1: Review and update MoEST school information

Basic information about your school was obtained from the Belize Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOE). We kindly ask that you review this information and let us know if any details are incorrect or have changed.

In addition, we would appreciate it if you could provide a few updated details to help us better support your school, including:

  • IT teacher’s name and email address
  • Total number of students
  • Any other relevant updates you feel we should be aware of

Thank you for your time and cooperation. Your assistance helps us ensure our records are accurate and allows us to better serve your school.

Step 2: Complete Additional Forms for Curriculum and Facility Information
There are 5 additional forms that need to be reviewed. These include questions about:

  • Demographics -Information about your school administration, teaching staff, and student population.
  • Curriculum – Details about subjects taught at your school, with a particular focus on computer-related and technology courses.
  • Computer Room – Information about the room(s) where computer equipment will be used. Please note that there are specific requirements related to electrical capacity, cooling, and security that must be met in order for us to provide equipment.
  • Resources – Details about your existing computer equipment and technology resources.
  • Images – Please upload photos of your school and any computer rooms. These images will be displayed with your grant request so donors can better understand your school. Choose clear, appropriate images that accurately represent your facilities and help potential donors understand your needs.
Step 3: Confirm and Submit Updated Information

Once you have completed all required forms, please return to the Your School page and check the box indicating that your review and updates are complete.

Please note that a grant cannot be submitted for review until this box has been checked.

Thank you for taking the time to ensure your school’s information is accurate and complete.

Apply for a grant

Schools are encouraged to apply for grants to receive computers, related equipment, and technology resources. Each application is carefully reviewed and evaluated to ensure readiness and need. Approved school profiles are then presented to our donors, allowing them to directly fund projects that expand access to technology and digital learning opportunities in schools across Belize.
Step 1: Preparing and Submitting a Grant Application

Before submitting a grant application, your school information must be reviewed, updated, and marked as complete. This ensures that all applications can be fairly and accurately evaluated.

When completing your grant application, please provide as much detail as possible about your request. Clear and thorough information helps us better understand your school’s needs and assess readiness for technology support. This information will be presented to potential donors so your application serves as an opportunity to highlight your school’s strengths, goals, and technology needs.

Note: We are currently prioritizing schools that already have a room that is or can use as a computer lab.  We also require security, power, air-conditioning and teachers that will use the lab with their classes. A good Internet connection is highly beneficial.  If your school is missing some of these elements you still may be considered for a donation. We are willing to work with schools to address these needs on a case by case basis.

Images of your school and the computer room or library where the equipment will be installed are especially important. These images help us understand the learning environment and are shared with donors. When uploading images, be sure to include a clear, descriptive caption for each. PLEASE follow the MoEST guidelines and avoid images that contain identifying information of individual students.

Step 2: We Present the Grant Application for Funding

Once a grant application is approved, it will appear in the list of available grants visible to donors on our BelizeK12.org donor website. A version of the grant application will be displayed, along with an overview of your school. We already have funding for up to 35 school labs and are actively soliciting additional donors.  This project will extend into at least 2027 so if you are not accepted for this years grant there is always next year.

This is where a well-written school description, a concise grant summary, and a small selection of appropriate images become especially important. Donors will use this information to understand your school and decide which grants to fund, so clarity, accuracy, and presentation matter.

Step 3: Fully Funded Grant Application

When a school’s grant application is fully funded, the school’s designated contact will be notified by email. We coordinate with the school and our partners in Belize to arrange delivery and installation of the new computer equipment on-site.

The delivery schedule is largely determined by the availability of the required equipment in Belize. Whenever possible, we stage equipment at our partner locations in Belize to streamline installation and ensure a smooth setup process.

.

Step 4: School Requirement After the Computes are Delivered

The donated computers are imported into Belize under a special Duty and GST exemption granted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) and the Ministry of Finance. Each computer and monitor is recorded by serial number, assigned to a specific school, and reported to the government.

Under the terms of this exemption, the computers may not be sold or given away. If this occurs, GST must be paid in accordance with the law. If a computer is broken or no longer needed, it must be returned to the designated distribution school.

We currently partner with Sacred Heart Junior College and CEMJC, which have generously agreed to provide distribution and repair services.

If a computer breaks, please report it to info@bk12.org. Repairs or replacements will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
